The Department for Cardiovacular Surgery is part of the university hospital, specialist on the treatment of complex cardiovascular diseases, such as the special surgical therapy of cardiac arrhythmias, bypass-operations with complex reconstruction of diseased coronary vessels, the replacement and especially the reconstruction of heart valves and also different treatment options for aneurysms and dissections of the thoracic aorta, including minimally invasive endovascular stentgraft placements. An own intensive care unit takes care of the patients after surgery. Within the Heart Centre of the university hospital, the department for cardiovascular surgery works in close cooperation with other specialized departments to offer an interdisciplinary approach to multi morbid patients.

The university hospital is located in a forest area right at the margin of Marburg. The city of Marburg is only about one hundred kilometres away from Frankfurt/Main with its central airport. Patients can be picked up at the airport and brought to the hospital by an own shuttle service. Hotels of all categories are available for accompanying persons within close reach the hospital.
